From countless moments of learnings and laughter, join us in reminiscing about the heartwarming and exciting happenings that filled our nursery with joy and love.

Ready to dive into the memories? Let’s take a stroll through the fantastic year we’ve had together!

Special Events

Earlier this year, we celebrated the King’s coronation, with tea parties, garden parties and lots of dressing up, we had a wonderful time celebrating this joyous occasion!

This Summer, our Narborough nursery hosted the Narbs Festival for the children as well as staff and parents. They participated in activities such as yoga, dancing, crafts, and a bubble party for our little ones. The older children showcased their talents on a stage, incorporating musical instruments into their performances.

We celebrated Diwali with a burst of vibrant and colourful activities. At our Oadby nursery, we also invited parents in to celebrate with us, from crafting Rangoli patterns to making fruit kebabs, exploring tuff tray activities, and participating in lively music and movement, the event created a lovely festive and joyful atmosphere.

Trips

This year, our nurseries organised fantastic trips to various places, providing children with enjoyable experiences and opportunities to learn about the world outside. Some highlights include:

  • The pre-school children at St. George’s Nursery, Narborough went on an educational Autumn adventure. They walked around the nearby village and saw how things were changing, like the weather and the colours of the leaves. The children picked leaves and conkers and used them to make Autumn crafts at nursery.
  • The children at St. George’s Nursery, Sherwood also visited the Stonebridge Farm and had the chance to feed the animals. The children also loved their visit to the park where they had a great time exploring, and playing on swings, slides, and more.
  • St. George’s Nursery, Oadby had quite a few exciting learning adventures this year. They explored local parks, enjoyed their time at soft play centres, and took a trip to the museum for a more fun and learning experience.
  • The children at St. George’s Nursery, Aylestone have made some lovely Christmas gifts and greeting cards to be given to the residents at the care home that is located close by to the nursery.

Fundraising

This year, St. George’s Nursery, Meridian successfully raised an impressive £142 for the charity LOROS. A huge thank you to the parents and our staff who generously contributed by baking delicious treats and making donations for this noteworthy cause.

St. George’s Nursery, Enderby organised a Harvest collection, where they managed to gather a generous amount of donations from the parents and staff at the nursery. The collected items were proudly handed over by the children to the Mission Food Bank in Enderby.

St. George’s Nursery, Aylestone & Narborough actively engaged in fundraising activities for various charities. Events like cake sales, Red Nose Day, and other fundraisers were organised to support causes such as Children in Need and PASIC, a charity helping children with cancer.
We are proud to share that our nurseries have successfully raised an impressive total of £663.95 for Children in Need. Thank you to everyone involved in contributing to this remarkable effort!

Family & Community Involvement

All our nurseries hosted delightful graduation ceremonies this summer for our school leavers, inviting parents to join in the celebrations. The event was full of enjoyable activities like cake decorating and arts & crafts which created cherished memories for both parents and the children.

St. George’s Nursery, Meridian introduced a book lending library that has gained popularity among parents. This initiative allows parents to borrow books to read at home with their children and in turn has created a love for reading for the children.

In celebration of Father’s Day and Grandparents Day, all our nurseries invited families, dads, and grandparents for sports sessions and stay-and-play sessions. The sessions were filled with creative and fun sensory activities, grandparents reading sessions, sports games and so much more. We offered some yummy treats and snacks, making it an enjoyable day for all.

At Narborough & Sherwood, we had special visits from the Police and Fire Service. The children had a great time sitting in the fire engine, listening to the siren, and even took turns using the hose. It was a fun and educational experience that helped the children understand the important work of these community heroes.

Nature based & outdoor learning for the year

St. George’s Nursery, Enderby received a visit from the South Leicestershire Wombles! These guests introduced us to litter picking and spoke to us about why taking care of our planet is so important. They showed the children that even small things they do now can make a huge difference in the future. The visit was part of a lesson on renewable energy, and it happened right when the nursery was getting solar panels installed.

At St. George’s Nursery, Aylestone, we took the children to a nearby allotment to plant seeds and grow their very own pumpkins. It was a fantastic learning experience.

St. George’s Nursery, Sherwood have developed a great forest school area in their garden. The children have been busy with bug hunts, leaf rubbings, making art with collected leaves and twigs, and even planting some herbs. We believe that the benefits of outdoor learning are immeasurable, and our forest school activities will instil in our children a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
