At St. George’s Nursery, every day is filled with exploration, learning, and excitement. We believe that a well-rounded day sets the foundation for our children’s growth and development. While each of our nurseries has its own unique touch, all share the same commitment to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment.

The nursery is arranged into different areas to encourage personalised learning, including a sensory exploration space where children can safely stimulate or calm their senses, helping to support self-regulation. Here’s a glimpse into what a typical day might look like at our nurseries.

Morning Rituals

The day begins with a warm welcome as children arrive at the nursery. Starting from 7am or 7:30 am, our early-bird session offers a range of activities to engage children in a relaxed start. Breakfast is served until 8:45 am, providing a nutritious and enjoyable meal to fuel the day ahead.

Learning and Exploration

By 9:00 am, we begin our Circle Time, a moment where children gather around with their friends and the wonderful nursery team to greet each other, sing songs, share stories, and talk about what lies ahead for the day. Circle Time helps set a positive, inclusive tone for the day and gives each child a sense of belonging and community.

Following this, children dive into a wide array of hands-on activities designed to stimulate their curiosity and learning. These activities include messy play, arts and crafts, sensory play, and outdoor exploration. We may take advantage of the outdoor garden area to engage in gardening and nature-based activities. We may engage in extra-curricular activities including yoga sessions, music and movement, or fun dough disco activities to develop motor skills and creativity.

Lunch and Relaxation

At 11:30 am, the children sit down to enjoy a nutritious lunch. Our wonderful chefs freshly prepare all our meals, with a focus on providing a balanced and healthy diet that caters to the needs of every child. We take dietary preferences and allergies into careful consideration, ensuring that every child has a meal they can enjoy. We encourage self-serving, so children can learn independence.

After lunch, children who need a nap are given a quiet, restful environment, to help them drift off to sleep. While those who remain awake engage in quieter activities like story time, relaxed play or creative activities that encourage relaxation without overstimulation.

Afternoon Adventures

The afternoon begins with a fresh round of activities. The activities vary each day but include a mix of indoor and outdoor play, further encouraging children to develop their physical, social, and cognitive skills. Depending on the day’s schedule, the afternoon might include forest school activities or interactive sessions such as busy feet and bean bag boogie, designed to keep children engaged and energised.

By mid-afternoon, tea is served between 3:00 and 3:30 pm. This is a light snack to keep children satisfied until it’s time to go home. This time often includes a final burst of activities or a chance to wind down.

A Day of Growth for Every Child

At St. George’s Nursery, we pride ourselves on creating a daily routine that is both structured and flexible. We understand that every child is unique, with different needs and interests, and we work hard to tailor activities to suit each child’s individual learning style. Whether it’s engaging in creative arts, participating in physical play, or simply having quiet moments of reflection, our goal is to foster each child’s development in a supportive and nurturing environment.

By creating a structured yet adaptable daily routine, we ensure that children receive a balanced mix of learning and play, preparing them for future success and happiness.
